A swedish investigation project, recording polypores during 5 years (1990-1995), resulted in 3405 localities and 22 different hosts for Fomes fomentarius. 89% were Betula, 5% Fagus, 3% Alnus, 1% Populus, 1% Corylus, 1% Salix. Other hosts were Ulmus, Malus, Fraxinus, Carpinus, Quercus, Picea, Crataegus, Prunus, Sorbus, Aesculus, Tilia, Acer
Think it is not Fomes fomentarius, I know how Fomes fomentarius looks and it is by my knowledge found only on fagus sylvatica. Think this is different.
But I might be wrong.
