Used references: Correcting the author based on a email from Else Vellinga. She also noted that this is probably not the true L. rubrotunctus (an eastern US species). She is in the process of reviewing the western species and will be publishing new species sometime soon.

Recognized by sight: After looking at some authentic original material and using H. V. Smith’s type study and some good eastern material I have found that the common rubrotincta-esque species around here is what Murrill published a long time ago with out much use since then! But it really is quite distinctive with its salmon to greyish tinted to pink cap generally with a very dark center… the breaking of the cuticle is highly variable though!
