looking at descriptions and photos it seemed like a likely fit, but I still have the dessicata, as well as the Smith book on Pholiota, so I will go deeper this eve…plenty of cystidia drawings with which to compare mine!

These seem to have a rather scaly stipe, which might put it into another species. But when you say the scope work, was that only looking at the spores? I’m not sure that the spores in Pholiota have that much taxonomic significance, other than making sure it is a Pholiota. How do you judge this as a the specific Pholiota species?
