Observation 46700: Henningsomyces candidus (Pers.) Kuntze

When: 2010-06-07

Collection location: Bassetts, Sierra Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Found under mixed conifer forest.
Found by others in the spring fungi of the Sierras course.

These were brought in by one student Bharati. She, for some reason, brought in a number of tiny interesting things, much more than other students. I didn’t think much of these, thought it was some slime mold, until she showed me them under the mounting scope. Funny little spine-tubes.

Hello Bharati – good to hear from you again. Did you get any photos of the more interesting things? You should post some here, I can only get so much in a day and half there…

Hi Doug,

My name is Bharati. Nice to see these photos here!

And yes, I found more odd stuff after you left – Paul is going to labor over one and Dennis dried more for the herbarium.
