Recognized by sight: Sporocarps found in neighbor’s front yard under 70-foot Deodor cedar duff (Lebanon cedar). Stipe turning brown when brushed by fern frond or when lightly handled. In cut sporocarp, browning especially noticeable in cap flesh and stipe. Note also the hollow stipe and very wide base of sporocarps. I have cultivated C. rhacoides in a combination of 50% birch twigs and 50% fresh-cut grass clippings put into a mulch pile. Grows well in my backyard under raspberries.
