Observation 46847: Amanita muscaria var. guessowii Veselý
When: 2010-06-12
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I am having trouble identifying this to species. The base is throwing me off. Lack of definite concentric rings at the base and positioning of warts casts doubt on my initial assumption of Amanita Amerimuscaria. Cap BRIGHT yellow-orange. Found on hot, humid day.

for the replies. I know my images could’ve been better, but I hope they’re sufficient. There’ll be more popping in that area for sure, so I’ll give ’em another look soon.

I don’t think the rings ever developed, usually the warts are also atypical in these ring-less specimens. I believe it’s caused by rapid humidity changes early in the mushrooms life cycle.

Why do you think amerimuscaria, especially with a base like that. Do you think the rings just wore off?

Looks similar to this observation, especially the base.
