It is a Laccaria

I asked Greg Mueller, the Laccaria expert, and he says it is definitely a Laccaria, possibly bicolor, although you would need spores to tell.

small, under 2 cm cap and stem

Darkened to orangey brownish overnight. I could not find spores in a smash mount, but were many round “oil drops”. Tough consistency to both caps and stems.
