I found them like this with the silvery fibrillose cap, some that were dark almost red, and others that looked nearly like Galerina or something- thin and orange/brown.

Hard to believe it is all the same… But I suppose it probably is. None the less, I made collections of each, so I will compare at some point to be sure.

This doesn’t look at all like the P. carbonicola we were finding in the Sierra. Ours had dark gills, a more slender stipe, and next to no pileal ornamentation.
