is also a little darker and a lot shinier and really thin fleshed

are primarily a feature of perennis. otherwise, they can both have zonate, fuzzy caps.

Any comments on why one species over another here? I found what looks like the same stuff in Pinecrest, in the same habitat, mossy area near burnt ground. Here is the obs:
