I now have my doubts about this being C. veronicae, please see new collection and observation of this species here.

I agree that habitat with Leptospermum is unusual, but there may be small Nothofagus nearby that escaped attention?

Yes, it is a better fit, interestingly enough this was in Leptospermum forest with a lot of tree ferns, there were some specimens that were actually fruiting from the trunk of one of the ferns!

C. veronicae is a much better fit, was there Nothofagus around?
