Observation 47429: Psathyrella carbonicola A.H. Sm.

When: 2010-06-13

Collection location: Sierra Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Danny Newman (myxomop)

No specimen available

Several distinctly greyer and more mature specimens were collected some 4 or 5 days earlier, two of which were dried on the stipe and consequently possessed much darker gills and wavy margins. Having piqued his interest, the first collections (not pictured) were delivered into the hands to Prof. Desjardin for further examination but no species determination could be made. Psathyrella was the decided genus. I returned to the same spot later in the week to find the specimens pictured here, each of which are dried and remain in my possession.
