I just finished cleaning and sauteing them. They are now in the freezer chilling for a couple of weeks. It’s the best preservation method I’ve found.
For a period of more than a week, I’d probably slice/saute and freeze. But there is a method of keeping fresh mushrooms… damp paper towel on the bottom of a ceramic or glass bowl, cover top with a damp paper towel. This method works pretty well… as long as one keeps the paper towels damp, something that is required about twice daily. Don’t know if it would keep chants good for two weeks though.
These are for the potluck at the Ohio Mushroom Society gathering in a couple weeks.
