There are several species of Hypotrachyna with gyrophoric acid, including:

H. revoluta — no pustules
H. showmanii — maculate tips
H. oostingii — pustules subterminal
H. “spumosa” — medulla yellowish
H. afrorevoluta — medulla white, pustules marginal, not maculate, revolute, in mountains/piedmont
