Observation 47959: Boletus vermiculosus Peck

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found singly on ground in semi-wooded area, in the vicinity of oaks I believe, with Bitter Boletes growing nearby. Cap brown with whitish inner flesh that bruised blue. Stem yellowish, reticulate, tapered to a thin crease where it connected to cap. Ridden with maggots. XP

you said the stipe was reticulate but I don’t see that? Maybe that was washed out by the flash when the pic was taken? In general your bolete fits what I’d call one of the above names but lacking chemical tests and spore size it’s a guess. Also I’d expect to see a slight brownish pruinosity overlayed on the pale yellow stipe but really not enough resolution to see that either. Nice bolete.
