Observation 4912: Lactarius alnicola A.H. Sm.
When: 2007-11-12
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I had found L. alnicola up there before, but this find brings that into question perhaps. The stipes of these are much more scrobiculate then I had seen before. But also on the large older one, the gills are mottled with yellow stains. And on the yound ones, there was plenty of white latex, and by the time I got home they have stained the gills, and the latex has gone a bit yellow. So, I’m going with L. scrobiculatus now, and I’ll have to look closer at the L. alnicola I’ve found up there in the past.
