Observation 49245: Inocybe lanuginosa group
When: 2010-07-26
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Spores 5,5 – 7 × 6,5 – 10 microns
Cystidia (pleuro- and cheilo-) 55-70 × 15 – 20 microns, some with crystals on the top, walls 1-1,5 microns
Background in the photos with 5 mm squares shows the size of the mushroom
Colour on cap and stem is accurate on my screen

Growing in a damp spruce forest with Sphagnum, together with hundreds of Inocybe relicina (a lookalike with yellowish gills and clearly shorter spores).

This keys out pretty well as Inocybe stellatospora in Funga Nordica. I wonder how that is possible – a Peck species with a brief description and no type collection.?! It doesn’t fit Peck’s description well either, better with Atkinson’s longicystis (and those two are considered synonyms in Funga Nordica..).

Anyone who knows any of the mentioned species who’d like to make a comment?

I have tried to keep the specimen, but this time of year it’s difficult, everything gets attacked by mold..
