i don’t have a good idea. These species are in the east, and i am in the west… I know of one procera-like thing in the east (like the one we are commenting on), one in the mid-west, and then probably some other species hiding under names like ‘prominens’.

Do you have any guess on how many different NA Macrolepiota species there may be?

no Macrolepiota procera in North America, except grown by mushroom growers

this is just another example of a European name used for an American species. In fact, this name, has been used all over the world, but all those non-European species turned out to be different. The ones in North America still are nameless. You can change that, by starting to keep the mushrooms you photograph, make notes on them, photograph them, and dry them.
