Recognized by sight: The problem is that we are getting a growing number of jacksonii-like taxa from the southern US ranging from FLA to AR to MO to TX. This has to be sorted out. Well documented collections are critical to this effort. At the moment, we can get DNA sequences on odd-ball specimens with little difficulty because of on-going research. Collections of “slender caesars,” please!

Although a strip of the partial veil was removed inadvertently

when the mushroom cap was sectioned, parts of the skirt-like partial veil are visible between the gills and the stem on both sides of the stem in the lower picture. The presence of the partial veil led to the determination of the section in which to place the photographed specimen.
