Habitat: Growing on the ground in a carpet of mosses under open boreal forest.
Identification: A Stereocaulon with abundant red-brown apothecia and tomentose stalks (podetia). Note that it is the stalks that are tomentose, not the phyllocladia that nearly cover them.
