Observation 50690: Entoloma pigmentosipes (Largent) Noordel. & Co-David
When: 2009-03-07
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Notice the true purple tones at the stipe base, the shagginess of the stipe surface, the fairly large size, the color of the lamellae and the veins on the faces of the lamellae. Also, the coloration of the stipe changes dramatically across a fairly well-defined but jagged line. The dark blue and purple coloration is very striking, and somewhat iridescent.

Recognized by sight: Subgenus Leptonia, this is what I am calling (for now) E. pseudocarneum – this is only provisional, and is intended to reflect that people often misidentify this striking little critter as Leptonia carnea (myself included)
