Point taken.. but since the option pops up in the choices as ‘Polypore Mushroom’ I thought it was accepted in ‘mycologese’ to name it so… Guess the MO ‘gods’ should think of deleting that….

Charming as your naming conventions for polypores may be, I think the idea here is to stick to binomial nomenclature, as in latin names for genus and species. If you were unsure of a find but knew it to be a polypore, Polyporales would suffice just fine, as this determination encompasses most everything generally thought of as having the common name “polypore.”

If the MO gods find me in error, then by all means, let’s have the floodgates opened on goofy latin. The next Lictor silvestrus var. publicanus I photograph will get his/her very own observation.
