the greyish, nearly whooly appearance of the stipe squamules, especially towards the base in younger specimens are very characteristic for L. cyaneobasileucum (syn. L. brunneogriseolum). Also the flesh in the stem base is almost always blue-green, never so in L. scabrum ss. str.
