Observation 51617: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray

When: 2010-08-27

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

45.80342° -77.140481°

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
Found in Zone 38 where it stood out conspicuously for some distance with its sizable, conical, concentrically-zoned cap. Overturning it revealed the orange-brown gills and cortina, and a search of its surroundings turned up a smaller mushroom of the same species (along with a tiny, nifty polypore).
