Notes: Found under a large white oak (Quercus alba) on a college campus lawn. I am sure this is Sparassis but there seems to be quite a bit of disagreement between the species in the books. Lincoff says one similar to this is S. crispa and calls it the eastern cauliflower mushroom, but others say S crispa is the more delicate looking one that grows out west under conifers. Any help/thoughts on this would be appreciated.
