Ok, I do have to say, I’m completely uncertain about how to id these small brown to orange-brown Lactarius. But I thought I would give it a try, and see what happens. The cap is slightly viscid-smooth, stipe non-viscid, latex white and unchanging, doesn’t stain the gills, and taste is mild. With the brick-red-brown cap colors, it seems that this fairly well matches L. badiosanguineus in the Funga Nordica Lactarius key at least. But I would believe it was something else…
