on pale yellow gills (and pale yellow flesh) is a character of T. flavobrunneum/fulvum. Growing with birch too..?

I noticed that your example here on MO shows darkening gills. Mine doesn’t.
Variable feature?

most of the downed wood in those forests was very decayed…
