I found this glorious flush on a hardwood log on the slope of a narrow gully. I don’t know about Royoporus. This is the same kind of mushroom as the one shown here:

Somebody changed the name of this mushroom, so I can’t name it polyporus badius. It’s very frustrating when this happens, because it means I cannot link this observation to others of the same species that were posted under the old name.

Sometimes the software will allow one to use the old name anyway, but this time the new name is the only option given.

Moreover, there should be some explanation when a name changes. I have no way of knowing if there are good reasons to change the name, and I do not have time to research every mushroom. Those who deprecate names should give us the reason for the deprecation. Too often the names change and then change back, because the change was not valid.

So please, whoever changed the name, if this is not P. badius then explain why it is not.

Royoporus?
