Collection location: Chorleywood House Estate, Hertfordshire, England [Click for map]

Who: Hunx (Mycohunx)

No specimen available

Situated in the middle of a field full of mole hills and little else. This is one we are watching, and will not pick until it become more mature. Cap is thick, dense, firm and dry. Stalk is thick; whole mushroom is about three inches in diameter, but is anticipated that it will get bigger before ‘peaking’ and decomposing.

I had a little feel around the base of the cap, and could detect a rim, but unable to feel into the rim to see how the gills (if any) had formed. Have encountered very few puffballs though.
