This species likes to grow out of light colored clay ravine walls. This collection was made near a roadside.

This species has light colored gills which do not turn purple until the mushroom is fairly mature.

Used references: The Genus Psilocybe by Gaston Guzman. Key to section Zapotecorum led to this species.
Based on microscopic features: Pleurocystidia and cheilocystidia size and shape matches
Based on chemical features: Strongly staining blue. Farinaceous taste and odor.
