Observation 53326: Cortinarius alboviolaceus (Pers.) Fr.

When: 2010-09-19

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

45.801461° -77.136533°

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Found in Zone 48: a small cluster of C. alboviolaceus, a species I was concerned might be locally extinct after the destruction of Zone 11 this spring.

It was under mixed hardwoods. I didn’t see any especially close but the zone is full of aspen trees, some mature, and I suspect these to be the host.
