I would consider the above species, see MO25905.

The stipes were quite long (3-4")ending in a cluster and hollow. They did not seem to have any volva

Looks a bit like Leucopholiota.

Pholiota will have brown spore print, Leucopholiota white.

Any view of the stems? Did they have volva or fragments?
Did the end of the stems bulge?
