Observation 5359: Phyllotopsis nidulans (Pers.) Singer
When: 2007-12-08
No herbarium specimen
0 Sequences

Notes:
I got a very faint whitish(?) print. The spores are tiny – I’m guessing 2-3 microns (sorry, no reticule) – smooth, oval.

Arora suggests lentinus, marasmius(?), omphalotus, pleurotus, claudopus, phyllotopsis, rhodotus, crepidotus or paxillus for gilled mushrooms with “stalk consistently off-center, lateral, or absent …”. None of those seem to fit.

The color and tomentose cape are distinctive for Phyllotopsis nidulans. If you have the collection, smell it…you won’t forget it!
