Observation 53895: Stropharia rugosoannulata f. lutea Hongo

When: 2010-09-22

Collection location: Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

A friend of mine found these growing at the edge of a lawn which included pine trees. At first I thought it was Leucoagaricus naucinus. Took the specimens to the NEMF foray, and got a quick opinion that maybe they are a Stropharia. There was a similar mushroom out on the table at the foray which was labeled Stropharia johnsoniana. But this one had typically greyish gills, unlike my collection (seen here) which shows white gills. Ring was easily detached on one specimen.
