but I will not remove Creolophus cirrhatus, because I think there are still people out there who want to search for that name.

According to Index Fungorum (http://www.indexfungorum.org/Names/Names.asp), a site listing the currently accepted fungal names and followed by most (at least European) mycologists and trustworthy mycological sites, the current name for this fungus should be Hericium cirrhatum.
