Observation 54302: Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr.

When: 2010-09-30

Collection location: Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Bob Zuberbuhler (Bob Z)

No specimen available

Two medium size caps, one deeply cleft, were connected eccentrically to a firm, black, bifid stalk and were found on a dead log. The caps were tan and the area directly over the stalk attachment was furrowed and black. The underside had a honeycomb pattern but no tube layer was visible adjacent to the honeycomb. Some areas were denuded, suggesting that the specimen was rather old.
