Observation 5431: Russula cyanoxantha (Schaeff.) Fr.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Fruiting in an open area near oak, bay and pine. Deeply embedded in grass tussock. Taste mild.
Pileus: moist, slightly sticky, 8.5 cm across.
Gills: white, attached, several were forked near pileus.
Stipe: looks chalky, white, approx. 1.8cm wide at apex.
