Observation 54335: Peltigera membranacea (Ach.) Nyl.
When: 2010-09-13
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: on mossy rock above trail around 4000’ in clearing in montane forest

This turned out to be quite tomentose after it dried out, and the outer rhizines were distinctly smooth (ruling out P. membranacea).

[On further examination, I found a number of rhizines that were quite tomentose. At this point I sought Trevor Goward’s opinion. He has seen specimens like this and isn’t sure it is true P. membranacea, but it needs better study. -JPH 20101030]
