Observation 55372: Tricholoma saponaceum (Fr.) P. Kumm.
When: 2010-10-08
No herbarium specimen

Notes: These were growing near Lodgepole pine or Red fir at about 7000 ft.
They seem to fit at least Kris Shanks’ description of the California version of this species.
3-5-13; Looking at my original spore photos and data, it was apparent they were less than ideal. Rechecked the spores from saved spore print using KOH and Congo Red..
Spores ~ 5.1-7.5(7.9) X 3.8-5.1(5.9) microns.
Q(ave.) = 1.41.
These fit T. saponaceum pretty closely.
