Observation 5538: Lactarius Pers.

When: 2007-12-19

Collection location: Howarth Park, Santa Rosa, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)

No specimen available

Notes:
I sort of think this might be a very fresh L. alnicola, but am not sure. Stipe was viscid, as was pileus. Solitary amongst madrone, bay, deciduous oak. Pileus 6cm across, stipe 1.3cm across at apex. Latex was pale yellow. I couldn’t tell if it came out yellow or white. The slime factor was too great for me to take a taste. Eeeww.
