Observation 55856: Lactarius pubescens var. betulae (A.H. Sm.) Hesler & A.H. Sm.
When: 2010-10-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing in residential parkway near hardwood trees (aspen?).

Didn’t taste as the things were so gnarly looking that the last thing I wanted to do was put a piece of it in my mouth.

Latex was sparse, at first I wasn’t even sure it was a Lactarius, when it finally did “bleed” it was white and didn’t immediately turn any colour, the gills seemed to be discoloured near where the latex was present.
