Observation 56420: Cortinarius subfoetidus A.H. Sm.

When: 2010-10-18

Collection location: Diamond and Crater Lake, Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

Specimen available

This one became a little more obvious after looking at the pictures and observing the “sheath” over the lower half of the stipe.
Spores were ~ 9.1-10.8 X 5.0-6.8 microns, somewhat on the large size.
I didn’t initially make an odor check but the dried material still had a peculiar odor.
Third photo shows the effect of KOH on the various surfaces.
