Observation 56497: Amanita muscaria var. persicina Dav.T. Jenkins
When: 2010-10-24
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Some more specimens from the same place as yesterday, note the peachy/red/yellow hues seen on the pilei and around the base of the stipe. Also I took some better pics of the color change of the pileus, which is why I thought others voted my last collection of these down so low, note the first pic and others. I had to scratch areas away to show the red color underneath for the first pic.

The specimens with well defined concentric rings that I made an observation for yesterday were underneath pine needles, maybe that is why the rings were well defined. This observation can be seen here…http://mushroomobserver.org/56423?q=2ThO

The only reason I collected so many is for study, I have several people that want specimens.

Note color of pileus, and areas I had to scratch away at to see the peachy red color.

Worn down concentric rings, nice peachy hues though, note the ring hanging from the margin. This one did not drop all the way down, pine needles held it up.

Peachy concentric rings.

This is what I meant when I said the color of the cap can be seen only around the margin.
