Observation 56652: Clitocybe tarda Peck

When: 2010-10-24

Collection location: Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

No specimen available

Collected from an area on my lawn where I have found Clitocybe tarda in past years. Spore print was very thin, but it looked like it may be white. Compare with obs 56318. Growth habit was in clusters of 4 – 8 mushrooms.

As with 56318, I’m thinking Clitocybe or maybe Lyophyllum connatum. Cap diameters around 2 inches.

There are still some growing on my lawn, so I’m hoping for a better spore print.

from the same patch. Thicker spore print appeared pinkish against the white background. Apparently not the same as obs 56318 (different location) which had a thick white print.

They certainly look like C. tarda.

Hope to get a better spore print… thin print seemed to disappear against a white background. Maybe I can find a few fresh ones and get a thick print.
