Notes: i have collected first specimen on berberis leaf and the second on probably rananculus leaf.(lower surface).

Recognized by sight: Definitely a rust. I don’t think the two specimens are the same species, since most rusts are very host-species specific. Puccinia gramins, black stem rust of wheat, has an alternate host of barberry, typically Berberis vulgaris. I’m pretty sure the top picture (9633) is the aecial stage of Puccinia grmainis on barbery. I don’t know what specimen 9634 is, although it’s certainly a rust.

There are a few different species on Ranunculus as far as I know.
But on barberry it is definitely P. graminis.
