Observation 57514: Cortinarius purpurascens group

When: 2010-10-19

Collection location: Diamond and Crater Lake, Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

Specimen available

These look like they are in the C. purpurascens/C. porphyropus group and possibly the same as my MO#56511( http://mushroomobserver.org/56511?q=2YD5 ) although they were found about 25 miles apart. In fact, my spore measurements on these; ~ 8.0-9.0 X 5.3-6.2 microns) , are basically the same.
One can also see the purple bruising on the gills by going to full blow-up.
KOH reactions were also near neg on all surfaces.
