Observation 57533: Crepidotus (Fr.) Staude
When: 2010-10-28
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This Fungi has many similarities to our Brown Oyster Fungi, (Pleurotus australis).
However, this fungi, displays a great deal of size difference. This specimen was 20mm (1/10th) the size across of the Brown Oyster., (the Brown Oyster is up to 200mm across. ) The serated perimeter is unusual (shown from the top side of the fungi.)
The smaller specimen (b) shows the very short stem and open gills. The third image shows three fungi (overturned), all growing together. It is also noticeable that although the largest specimen is dark brown (usually associated with ageing), it can be seen that the smaller fungi have the same characteristic colouring.
Again there was no distinctive aroma evident.
