Recognized by sight: Small, thin skin which stains red, shaped like an inverted pear, surface scaly with brownish scales, white rhizomorphs at the base
Based on microscopic features: Spores spiny, round, not reticulate, 12 micrometers, 2 micrometer spines.
Based on chemical features: Inside skin staining reddish after being cut. Outside instantly staining reddish brown with KOH.
