Recognized by sight: Nice population!! The other option is L. pensylvanica which has black underside. I think I see pale gray under a few, hard to be absolutely sure, though. L. papulosa is, at any rate, very common in middle to southern Appalachians.

Thanks for the id. The rock in the picture is not terribly far from my house, and I have some free time this weekend so I’ll try to get back there to get a photo of the underside.
