Recognized by sight: Just the general appearance combined with the terrestrial growth (although it could easily be growing on buried wood) makes me lean towards L. perlatum.

I wrote it up as perlatum and changed it at the last minute due to the lack of a distinctive “nipple”. If the only real difference is the fact that pyriforme grows on wood and perlatum grows on the ground, your right its perlatum. I found these in the middle of the trail.
