Notes: This is a small, but amazingly common Amanita in this area with a very long growing season. That being said, I found it hard to find specimens that were worth photographing.

I hadn’t noticed that redness before you mentioned it, but it’s true. Also slugs seem to be exceptionally fond of it.
That’s a lot of the true dope on flavoconia that you nailed in your description. Also, it always looks too red in digital photographs.
